Introduction

Dorling-Kindersley 1997 says, "Kelantan has 36 royal and official flags". Flaggenbuch 1939 only reports the standard of the Sultan.

A chart in Znamierowski 1999, p. 30, shows no less than 30 Kelantan rank flags. They are labelled in Malay. Most of them are very simple, plain or quartered flags with the same arms (white emblem) as on the national flag. The remaining ones show a different emblem, more or less like that described by Ivan Sache for the Sultan's standard.

I think most of the flags are no longer used since the Kelantan government is now more civilian-based and has only limited state powers, except the Sultan, Queen, Crown Prince etc. for whom they still exist.
